It's sort of like the Titantic movie.  We all know how it ends, but we still went to see it anyway.  The point being, is that people will take comfort in the small things.  Add this with the fact it's just another way to communicate and let people know you're safe, and everyone is happy.  Still, I do think in terms of worries, having internet problem is at the bottom when your house, car, and all valuables are getting swept away.]]></description>

I'm not sure how the POTS network held up.  But the bottom line is, when other forms of comm infrastructure were down, I think folks were probably VERY thankful to at least have internet access.  That way they could, y'know, do things like e-mail family to let them know they're OK... ]]></description>
