| [HN7000S] Down Daily Same Time, 99/1350
Read through posts and didn't see anything on recurrent problems with 99/1350. For the last several weeks, almost daily, about midday until 5 or so, EST, I lose connectivity. Could be more often, I'm not on the connection as much as I used to! Signal strength drops like a rock from 85 and cycles between 17-34, and I have Receive and Transmit error codes. I am not well-schooled on the technical side of this. Is anyone else on 99/1350 having problems in this time frame or other timeframes? Ideas on what's going on and what (if anything) I can do. -- Hughes Prof w/static IP|7000S|G4R 1250/99|WinXP(Home)Dell DIM4300,P4,1.60 GHz|IE6|LinKsys WRT54GS V1|Toshiba Sat WXP Home| |

| That sounds incredible! But who knows? Just for grins, have you tried checking all the coax cable connections at the dish? Maybe just unscrew them and look for corrosion. Might also check the ground connection at both ends. Good luck. -- HN7000S/PRO Plan/93W-1216 |

The only common factor seems to be that the connection goes out when it heats up, thought about trying to hit it with the hose, but the dish is on a tower. I may try that! |

| reply to BlessPat My dish is on a pole on the ground behind my house so i knew exactly when it was going to go out as soon as the sun hits it and heated it up out it went till after the shade hit it later in the afternoon and i could cool it down ....The repairman finally came today and put a new lbnb on the arm and its working great no more hose....lol the repairman said a friend of his up in tifton was having the same problem he told him what i was doing they laughed but it worked ...till he fixed it.nobody likes calling a service tech to come out but that is probably what you are going to have to do to.. -- HN7000S..117W/0970...satmex5.. |

| Well the water spray seemed to work. A "good ole country boy trick"!! Tried it about 1:00ish, took about 3 minutes of hosing it down and voila signal went to 85 and then dropped off about 30 minutes after I quit. Dish is on back side of steep roof (thank goodness) so it gets shaded around 4ish and then the sun drops behind a tall pine about 4:30 and here I am, full signal again. I guess I shouldn't complain about needing a service visit since I've had no hardware issues at all since original install Sept, 2002. -- Hughes Prof w/static IP|7000S|G4R 1250/99|WinXP(Home)Dell DIM4300,P4,1.60 GHz|IE6|LinKsys WRT54GS V1|Toshiba Sat WXP Home| |

1 edit | reply to BlessPat I see this is an old thread, but thanks so much for starting it. This is the reason I joined the forum. Mine seems to be heating up too. I replaced all the cabling and checked the pointing during a time when it was working and all is fine. The receiver only goes out in the heat of the day. I called HNS and those idiots wouldn't sell an LNB to me, they wanted to send out an installer and charge me for parts and labor. I took the plastic cover off the arm and removed the lnb and took it apart to find there's quite a bit of circuitry and nothing looked burned and the cable connector wasn't corroded. I jotted down the part number and found it on ebay for $16 from a surplus store in VA. Just thought I'd check some forums and see if anyone else had a similar problem. |

| reply to BlessPat Hey, I have the same problem, I have not tried the water hose trick but my signal goes out in the morning and comes back on in the evening. Called tech support and they sent out a guy who could not find anything wrong left without knowing anything other than nothing is wrong with my system. I do have an old dish, got it back when it was direct PC, maybe I need a new dish??? Service is perfect at night and up in the morning around 9:00 am it shuts off and stays off until afternoon. What do you guys think I need to replace? The service guy doesn't know as much as I do about it/ |

Not sure what's going on but another friend of mine..whose had her dish about as long as me--2002...is having the same issue. You might try the water hose, it works for me. I'm going to get the lnb, or whatever it's called, replaced, I'm told that will do the trick. |
