anon posted : More than double that rate actually. I just bought a home in SE Wisconsin (one would think that's reasonably well populated, right?) where I can ONLY get Wild Blue or Hughes. There aren't even DSL options for my new house! This was a bit of a shock, as I currently have Comcast High Speed Internet - in the country in New Mexico - which most people don't even realize is inside the U.S.! Considering how great my high speed internet is living way out in the boondocks, it never occurred to me that internet access would be a nightmare less than 45 minutes north of Milwaukee. Anyway, I tried the T.1 route, but it won't fly. I could afford it, but nobody would commit to running the services out to us in less than 18 months. Satellite nightmare, here I come . . .

lvlorpheus posted : What makes even less since is that most cell phone data plans have a 5 GB cap. Its not like cell phone companies are launching satellites. And to make matters worse EV-DO rev a is faster by far. Before one of you say you don't get EV-DO as your primary home connection. Keep in mind that is exactly what Alltel sold me with a router. And all of you that do have data plans as well as your home broadband connection I would think you would like to see the 5 GB cap higher. I am hopeful that the FCC will make Verizon and all cell provider increase the cap if they approve the Alltel purchase. and hopefully it will be at least 6 times higher. The higher the caps of the slower broadband alternatives the higher caps will have to be on true broadband services should they ever be implemented.
