| They should have done this a long time ago! They could run this service with hardware from 10 years ago and 1/10000th the bandwidth.
Of course, I haven't used nntp for a long time... web forums are so much improved these days! In fact, it was this forum that finally pulled me away from 0.verizon.* and out of nntp altogether.
FWIW, I never liked binaries in newsgroups... still, the omission of alt.* is mildly disturbing. Then again, as mentioned elsewhere, it's not hard to find free access to alt.* ...text groups, that is. IIRC, I used to use what became »www.usenet4all.se/ as a fallback server anyway.
