I didn't realize South Carolina was in the Southern Tier of New York.

Just shows you how inaccurate those speed test sites are.

I was getting 14mb/s out of Tampa & Seattle from the East Coast of Florida with a 173ms ping from Tampa and 155ms to the cesspool they call Orlando. Went to my News servers and just got the same old 7mbps down (standard account) from 2 different servers so Speedtest.net is BS.

I'm in Endwell NY and I just noticed it today! It helps, a little, but meh. I still want FIOS whenever it comes.

The increase in speed is only for a 5 mb burst ..
It's true that it's only for a short burst. For a long download I do notice I can occasionally get 9mb for a short time instead of 8mb. That's about it for now. Nothing on the upstream end. Hopefully some real upgrades are on the horizon.

I'll check tomorrow, but we (Stny) are in a non-competitive segment and will undoubtably be the very last place to be upgraded in NY. Our speed is the lowest tier 5mbit down / 384 up for RR standard and it's been that way forever. We need Comcast or Fios to move in ,...

The increase in speed is only for a 5 mb burst .. I dont know if they are doing a upgrade but its nothing to really enjoy cause its so super fast does not really do anything . I hope there testing something for a nice upgrade coming shortly...

I wouldn't question anything. I would just enjoy it while you have it and not alert them to anything like that in your favor that might be going on. Are you still seeing better speeds ?

What browser are you using to do the testing ? Sometimes Firefox gives me very high readings. And jenstevedenn, you e mailed them telling them that your download is too high ? Ummm...why would you e mail them to let them know that ?

I just noticed some crazy downstream speeds on premium here.
Normally I have 8/512 but I'm seeing over 20mb down now. I just did a Speakeasy speed test and here is my latest result :

Chicago
Last Result:
Download Speed: 23357 kbps (2919.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
