[XP Pro] File extension help

Hey guys,

Had VLC installed but found I wasn't using it so I deleted it, but now I'm left cleaning up my file extensions. Some are easy to reassign, but I'm left with this list and can't find enough information to know what kind of program to make the association with. Can you help me?

.bin
.cue
.divx
.flac
.mka
.mkv
.mov
.mp1
.mp2
.mp4
.mpeg1
.mpeg2
.mpeg3
.ogm
.ogg
.pls
.ps
.spx
.ts
.vlc

All these have the VLC icon. The related programs I have are WMP10, MMJ, and PowerDVD.

Thanks

.bin and .cue you might want to pick a burning program, or Notepad, or WinRAR, if you have that installed. But it's kind of a personal preference choice.

.vlc would apparently be VLC Player's own format, so you could probably simply delete that one.

.pls is a playlist.

The rest are all standard (basically) media or streaming formats.
Pick the player of your choice to open them, provided of course the player of your choice can open them.

There relly no specific preferences. Should it be played by PowerDVD or WMP. Most of the time, reinstalling the app will reclaim the file associations.

In my world a .bin is an EPROM image and associated with a hex editor. A .ps is related to Acrobat. Otherwise, from a quick look, I agree most all the rest look to be media file extensions.

Yes, but the extensions .bin and .ps are not exclusive to those files or file types of which you speak.

Nor would VLC media player have any reason to associate itself with those, were that the case.

.bin and .ps, in this case, are likely Apple "Golden Orchard" files (or perhaps something associated with an .iso, in the case of .bin), and .ps might also be a 'Paul Shields Song Module'-- whatever that is. (See previous link for details.)
