| reply to SkipMDMan Re: Verizon pushing FiOS internet to 50Mbps throughout US
said by SkipMDMan :So they increase your download speeds but take away the newsgroups that most people download from? Seems to me a little odd. From what I understand, that is a totally separate issue, as the newsgroup issue is due to the NY AG. They have shown that you can use that speed for what you want (as long as it is legal of course) |

| reply to RScottyL Currently paying $54.99 for 15/2 here in OR. I'm glad to hear about the 20/5 bump but will it be the same price? The PR isn't too clear about this. And we've seen how previous Verizon speed increases have turned out... |

| reply to just lou I just called to resolve a billing issue and asked the CSR about 20/20 in my area in California. She didn't know about it but did some digging on her side. She said 20/20 "footprint" was scheduled to roll out for next week, but didn't find anything more specific than that. |

| reply to RScottyL So it says on Verizon's corporate policy blog that existing customers will have to call to be upgraded, but what it doesn't say is whether or not existing customers will have to pay for the upgrade. I hope not! I'm on the 15/2, so I can't wait for 20/5. |

I think they should bump you all back down to where WE are NOW and charge you the same for a while, so we can have the faster speeds for cheaper and see how you like it. -- perl -le 'print $i=pack(c5,(8**2+3**2),42-10,sqrt(3600),oct(63),(unpack(c, "&")-6)),pack(c7, (70,114,101,101,66,83,68))' |

50 Mbps = $50
20 Mbps = $20
and till hell freezes over (which is when I'll get FIOS)
3 Mbps = $3 |

| reply to RScottyL They just raised my price by $10/month more than I was paying, with no advanced notice. I called up billing to inquire about it - first thing he tells me about is that all the speeds are being bumped up, so I'll get twice the download speed. But we raised your rate by $5/month (he tried to link the two although my speed hasn't actually changed, just my bill, haha). So I say if you raised my rate by $5/month why is the bill $10 higher? He gave some convoluted answer about a partial prior month plus and advance month blah blah blah... |

I'd be concerned that it would flow through the system more like a new order and possibly generate a rate increase if done online. Although we still aren't sure that it won't cause an increase even if done on the phone, it shouldn't, going by how they have been handled in the past. |

@verizon.net | reply to RScottyL They keep saying $89.95/month but the service still costs 94.95/mo in Queens to be specific. Why is that? |

Verizon charges extra if (1) you don't have telephone service, and/or (2) you don't commit to a year of service. Commitments apply to Internet, but not to a specific speed tier, so you can always change your speed without breaking the commitment. |

Im paying that $69.99/mo, I wish it was $5 cheaper/mo for both 20/20 and 50/20 then maybe I would upgrade. |

1 edit | reply to RScottyL It's supposed to be $89.95 here since it will replace the current 30/15. I plan on upgrading my 30/5 to the 50/20, although I'm not looking forward to the $35 increase I will see. But my 12 month promotion will be up in 2.5 months anyway so I might as well change next week. |
