1 edit | reply to mobbo Re: Verizon pushing FiOS internet to 50Mbps throughout US
That really sucks. I lucked out and had a tech who went above and beyond to get it solved. I really wish I could remember exactly what he said went wrong in technical terms but I can't. In simple terms he said when the upgrade took place it somehow corrupted your account information and the router has no clue what speed you should be getting or if you're even authorized to receive internet and basically locks you out. You'll also notice if you check the router admin page under "My Network->Network Connections" the router will show its frozen at "Waiting for DHCP lease". You might be able to get it fixed quicker if you explain all this to a new tech rather than waiting for the trouble ticket to get looked at. Once they realized what happened it was a simple click of a switch and I was back online. |

1 edit | Okay, my agent just called me back and the department she needed to reach was closed. It appears my account had some kind of "Hold" for credit or something and was rejecting any orders. I didn't fully understand it but my agent is supposed to call me back tomorrow @ 9am PST. She did seem genuine to helping to me out so there's a little hope. Anyone else have issues with upgrading on a data only account? |

| reply to RScottyL I was going to try to order the 20/5 online with a new 1 year (which states with no disclosure that you get the first month for free) in order to ease the burden of the $8 monthly increase, and the system told me I have a DSL order pending...HUH? -- Wormleysburg, PA |

| reply to SGR IT WORKED!
I called back in and told the tech to take another look and kind of read off what you just said... and it worked!
If anyone else is having this issue (internet completely out/amber "Internet" light after requesting the upgrade), call tech support and tell them to have a "network tech rebuild the ONT". |

Working full now. Total upgrade time, including having to call in to rebuild my ONT, 30 hours. |

I live in Northern Virginia, and when I called customer service today the rep told me that 50mb plans are not yet available in my area. He said the fastest plan was 30/5. I mentioned that Verizon had issued a press release stating that 50mb plans were available in ALL areas, and he replied 'yes, but not in your area yet'.
Oh well...... I live in NOVA and I called on Monday morning and the lady I talked to knew right away that the speeds were available. IN a few minutes I had 50mbs down, although they haven't corrected my upload yet. It' still at 5mbs up. |

Although I have all four services from Verizon. But since I was on the 30/5 INTERNET tier it doesn't count for a bundle. They charge my credit card automatically every month without any problems, plus my card doesn't expire until this fall. Ands whats even weirder is that the download speed increased to 50mbs a few minutes after I got off the phone, but it's the upload that hasn't been provisioned properly because of this so called hold. I'm just going to wait to see what happens. Who knows" Verizon might keep me at 50mbs down and 5mbs up and never increase my price from the current $55. That would be fine with me. |

| Called yesterday @ 4PM. The nice CSR knew right away what I wanted, but after some checking told me the upgrade wasn't free b/c of the plan I was on, but if I signed up with a bundle then I'd get it for free and SAVE $35/month over what I'm paying now.
This was quite unbelievable because I had fios internet as soon as it was offered in my area (SoCal) then fios tv as soon as THAT was available, and for the longest time I tried to get a bundle deal but couldn't. Either the CSR didn't know what the heck I was talking about, or it wasn't available. Finally I got some kind of a package (freedom essential or something) and saved about $40, but it still wasn't a triple play bundle. Mind you, I tried to say all the magic words, like "triple play" and "bundle", but it was like I was speaking Greek. One time I got one who told me I'd save like $5/month if I signed a 2yr contract. No thanks. All in all, I'm now saving $75/month over what I was paying for like a year.
Moral of the story: it's a freaking lottery with Verizon CSR. You call enough time, you may hit a nice one who's interested in helping you out. It's a rare phenomenon but it does occur. I think there's even a term for it, like "customer service".
Woke up this morning and got my 10/2 speed. I'm going to call today to confirm I really got a deal and the rep wasn't nut and I wasn't hallucinating. |

My agent came through for me! Although, the original she put in was a new installation order instead of a speed upgrade order so the first order needed to be canceled. I'm not even going to think about billing till my next bill comes out. Was a chore just getting the speed uprade! |

I just got Fios installed (15/15 plan) about 2 weeks ago. Would I be eligible for a bump to the new speed since I'm a new contract or would I be subject to a new rate?
Thanks! |

If you're already paying $65/mo like the rest of 15/15 folks in this market have been, then you won't see a new/higher rate. You will probably have to renew your contract |

Now whether that is actually true or not, I don't know. But at $89.95 I'm hoping it's true because I doubt the price will be that low in a year fromnow. But you never know. Do you have phone service with VZ? I also live in VA and was just told by VZ rep that the price is $114 for 50/20 if there's no land line provided by VZ.
Is that true? |
