They keep saying $89.95/month but the service still costs 94.95/mo in Queens to be specific. Why is that? Do you have Verizon phone service and a one-year commitment? Verizon charges extra if (1) you don't have telephone service, and/or (2) you don't commit to a year of service. Commitments apply to Internet, but not to a specific speed tier, so you can always change your speed without breaking the commitment. Well its like that here. I don't know why. Im paying that $69.99/mo, I wish it was $5 cheaper/mo for both 20/20 and 50/20 then maybe I would upgrade. I am only paying $54.99 for my 20/20 connection and $25 for Freedom Essentials (FIOS Double Freedom Package $79.99). I signed a 2 year agreement back in October. |

That's not an option that reps have. All they can do is select the tier you want on their computer, and the price will vary depending on what services you have. |

That's not entirety true... the initial rep may not be able, but I'm sure there's others who would.
I was able to haggle a better deal during my initial ordering. And if I was upgrading to a higher plan (like KenAF might) I would try to haggle a better deal, still.
Though like with everything of this nature; YMMV. |

1 edit | I am in Portland, Oregon, and have had 5/2 for many Months now. If I read the news right it seems to say that soon...within a Month?...I will be upgraded to 10/2. However, another way to read it is that it is for new customers only. Does anyone know? This could help with them cutting off most Newsgroups!
TIA |

I am under contract and Verizon has said in the past that if I make any changes in service that my price will go up to the new price. I wonder if upgrading to 10/2 will cause my price to go up. |

I had FIOS for 3 months, never received an account number and verizon.com requires account number to create an account, account number is on the bill that I cant view without an account number!
Proof that Verizon is the worst tech support and website out there, I'm not even going to waste my time calling.

| reply to Vamp I can't use the online account thing either for my business (internet-only) FiOS account.
It requires the account phone number, which is my residential FiOS phone number. So it says it can't register the account for a business service against a residential number -- perl -le 'print $i=pack(c5,(8**2+3**2),42-10,sqrt(3600),oct(63),(unpack(c, "&")-6)),pack(c7, (70,114,101,101,66,83,68))' |

| reply to Cyberian75 I am in a sticky situation now. I don't have Verizon phone service (I have internet/TV) so everything is based off of an account number. Verizon lives and dies by having a phone number as an "account number". If you don't have phone service, Verizon requires payment via credit card. Also, you don't receive a billing statement.
I log into Verizon.net because it will show the internet portion of my bill. It has an account number on it so whenever I need to call Verizon, I can log in and get the account number for Verizon. They have changed the website so now it takes me to Verizon.com in order to see my bill. Verizon.com requires a phone number. I don't have phone service! I am not sure what I am going to do as I want the free upgrade announced by Verizon in this thread. |

| Great! Thanks so much for the link. It let me create the account, but when I try to view the details for my internet info, it tells me that my account number is an invalid phone number. -- perl -le 'print $i=pack(c5,(8**2+3**2),42-10,sqrt(3600),oct(63),(unpack(c, "&")-6)),pack(c7, (70,114,101,101,66,83,68))' |

How does this differ from what you see under your account?
Note I don't have Verizon telephone service. |

1 edit | KenAF, I don't have 50/20 as an option under my account. The other options are the same as yours - 10/2, 20/5, 20/20. |
