| I've always had Firefox 2 set to "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox" with the settings checked only for "Browsing History" and "Cache" yet the awesome bar still finds things to display when you start typing. Where the heck is it getting the links from, my bookmarks? It's pretty damn annoying. |

I can see that if I click on the icon to open up the list of links below the bar, I get a short list of recent connections to sites that are in my bookmarks, and nothing else. I have browser history and download history set to be deleted each time I close Firefox. Still, those recent links to bookmarked sites do not clear. At least it seems that if a site is not bookmarked, it won't be saved in the "awesome" bar list IF, and only IF, you also clear browser history each time you close Firefox. There may be an about:config tweak for this, but I am loath to fiddle with that until I can find out what controls the "awesome" bar.
Oh, and this is way off topic for the original posting. I think we need to visit Mozilla.org for more info. |

Where the heck is it getting the links from, my bookmarks? It's pretty damn annoying. This isn't directed at you per se, but where is all the hate for the new address bar coming from? It's like the browser history, only much more usable. In the time I've been using FF3 RCs, I've used it many times to find sites I had recently been browsing whose names I had forgotten.
Until I realized it was a full text search, I was pretty annoyed at the extra screen real estate taken up by the list, though. -- It's wierdo, not weirdo. Yes, I know that's not the 'proper' spelling of the similar english language word. |

Ark join:2002-06-08 Ada, MI | reply to wierdo I otherwise like the new location bar, just the fact that it searches my bookmarks annoys me, because I have come to expect it to only search my recently visited sites. Full text search, and the rich presentation are all very nice. |
