The tech I talked to said this happens sometimes and that booting the Actionte will usually cause the 20mbs to show up when you have been provisioned and it's not there. In my case he was right. I'm also able to check my upload speed from my DLink since it measures it. Even when the ONT was provisioned for 20mbs up, it wouldn't get 20bs up from the Actiontec until it was rebooted. Once it was rebooted, it hit 20mbs up. My upload speed provisioning was finally fixed this evening(a day later than they said it would be, but I'm not complaining. The download speed was upgraded right away on Monday morning which is what I'm more concerned with.). I'm now getting 20mbs up instead of 5mbs. This 50/20 tier is sweet.

Without being a total bawbag to this nice lady I said "You are a switching company, how is my account name so deeply rooted to the connectivity of my phone etc"...it just amazes me that they dont have an easy solution for my situation, while unique, is probably few I am guessing. Anywho, thats disappointing from VZ's end. I must say in the 4+ years I have had VZ for a broadband provider, this is the worst I can think of.

I will report back only if 20/5 doesnt happen. Otherwise good luck to everyone else trying to get the new speeds.

Where are you and which speedtests are you using? The speedtests servers have been hammered over the past few days and I've had erratic results.

You may want to try re-running the FiOS speed optimizer also.

This was quite unbelievable because I had fios internet as soon as it was offered in my area (SoCal) then fios tv as soon as THAT was available, and for the longest time I tried to get a bundle deal but couldn't. Either the CSR didn't know what the heck I was talking about, or it wasn't available. Finally I got some kind of a package (freedom essential or something) and saved about $40, but it still wasn't a triple play bundle. Mind you, I tried to say all the magic words, like "triple play" and "bundle", but it was like I was speaking Greek. One time I got one who told me I'd save like $5/month if I signed a 2yr contract. No thanks. All in all, I'm now saving $75/month over what I was paying for like a year.

Moral of the story: it's a freaking lottery with Verizon CSR. You call enough time, you may hit a nice one who's interested in helping you out. It's a rare phenomenon but it does occur. I think there's even a term for it, like "customer service".

Woke up this morning and got my 10/2 speed. This is what they told me was my problem. Although I have all four services from Verizon. But since I was on the 30/5 INTERNET tier it doesn't count for a bundle. They charge my credit card automatically every month without any problems, plus my card doesn't expire until this fall.
Ands whats even weirder is that the download speed increased to 50mbs a few minutes after I got off the phone, but it's the upload that hasn't been provisioned properly because of this so called hold.
I'm just going to wait to see what happens. Who knows" Verizon might keep me at 50mbs down and 5mbs up and never increase my price from the current $55. I lucked out and had a tech who went above and beyond to get it solved. I really wish I could remember exactly what he said went wrong in technical terms but I can't. In simple terms he said when the upgrade took place it somehow corrupted your account information and the router has no clue what speed you should be getting or if you're even authorized to receive internet and basically locks you out. You'll also notice if you check the router admin page under "My Network->Network Connections" the router will show its frozen at "Waiting for DHCP lease". You might be able to get it fixed quicker if you explain all this to a new tech rather than waiting for the trouble ticket to get looked at. The same thing happened to me. It took about 45 minutes with a tech troubleshooting to figure out what it was. If I was you I'd call them up and just tell them you attempted to upgrade to the newest tier and the order somehow became corrupt and took out your internet because of it. Hopefully they will listen and fix it right away rather than having you do all sorts of pointless stuff. (I.E. He tells me that I CANNOT get a contract on a DATA ONLY account which I knew was completely bogus, but he continued to insist that and wouldn't do any more. He started to get defensive even. That's when I called for a supervisor. About 15 minutes later, I get the supervisor and tell about the yearly contract pricing and the supervisor completely knows what I'm talking about and says to me that the agent's computer had some problems not displaying the yearly contract prices and only showing the month-to-month pricing. The supervisor reassured that I would be getting 20/5 with the $57.99 pricing with year contract. Total time on phone, 1 hour.

Same thing happened when I tried to upgrade. I called and the CSR put in another order for 20/20. I called again to tech support and the rep said that the order was still in process with a June 24th due date.

I don't know why the first order went through so quickly but the 2nd order is stuck, or why the system thinks a tech is supposed to visit tomorrow. The tech said to disregard that but I won't be surprised if someone shows up tomorrow.

Hmmm, maybe the order is in limbo because their computer added a service call to the order?

I got the distinct impression that if I pressed the tech a bit he'd admit he didn't know what was going on with the order.

Has anyone with Verizon Direct tickets have the same problem? (Or went to Verizon Direct after being bumped from 15/15 to 20/5?) 1st call about the speed upgrades I was transferred to Sales. Rep there needed to look up additional info about the upgrade. Called me back later to tell me that the whole east coast system was having tech issues and she'd inform me when the upgrades would be applied.

Of course, I'm not going to settle for an answer like that when others on the east coast are being upgraded.

2nd call again to Sales. Different rep told me that the upgrades are automatic and should be applied within 2 days. I wasn't going to accept that either so I questioned him a bit more and got him to put my upgrade in the system (he did have to attempt it twice because the first time the system was having issues). He said it would take a day or two before it went into the system and the effects are felt so I'll just have to wait it out.

Currently on 15/15 and Verizon Central still reports it as such. Last time I upgraded from 15/2 to 15/15 I did not notice the effects until router was rebooted. For over a year, I have been told by everyone I talked to at Verizon that when 20/5 was available in my area that I would get the upgrade from 15/2 to 20/5 at no charge...

Of course, once it becomes available, I get told that I have to pay an extra $8 to get the higher tier. Now I wonder why I ever left Comcrap. At least they didn't lie about the fact that my price would go up regularly...

This is BS...the entire time my area had 15/2 NoVA, etc. had 20/5...

Then they try to sell me on a cell phone plan or a home phone to get a bundled price...when their home phone would cost me $25 more a month than I pay Vonage now...yeah, some f-ing deal.

I got that impression from the rep I am on hold with right now. The first time she put me on hold, she came back and said "I confirmed this is happening today" - at least I think those were her words. Not sure if she meant that it was just announced/passed down to her today or whether the automatic upgrades were starting today.

I log into Verizon.net because it will show the internet portion of my bill. It has an account number on it so whenever I need to call Verizon, I can log in and get the account number for Verizon. They have changed the website so now it takes me to Verizon.com in order to see my bill. Verizon.com requires a phone number. I don't have phone service! No, there is no bargaining. That's not an option that reps have. All they can do is select the teir you want on your computer, and the price will vary depending on what services you have.
That's not entirety true... the initial rep may not be able, but I'm sure there's others who would.

I was able to haggle a better deal during my initial ordering. And if I was upgrading to a higher plan (like KenAF See Profile might) I would try to haggle a better deal, still.

"The appetite for bandwidth shows no sign of slowing down," Verizon chief operating officer Denny Strigl said in prepared remarks for a speech at the NXTcomm telecommunications industry conference in Las Vegas.

The No. 2 U.S. phone company plans to boost download speeds to up to 50 megabits per second (Mbps) from a previous 30 Mbps for premium FiOS subscribers, according to the draft.

That premium service was previously only offered in some states such as New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts but will now be offered throughout the 16 states where it has built the FiOS network.
