Re: A good laptop for $1500...

I bought the following in early March and received $400.00 Off. So the total with NY Tax came in at $1,275.25. It is beautiful but I also bought a new Dell desktop with a blu ray drive so am not even using the laptop. Has maybe 3 hours on it watching a blu ray movie...Thinking maybe even selling it unless I start using it more..

Anyway, here are the specs.

You should be able to get more than that for that price on the 9700 now.

I just configured it with

- 512MB 8600GS
- 320GB HDD
- Blu-ray drive
- 3GB of RAM

Sub-Total = $1475
-$500 coupon ( NB4796 )

Total = $975

The coupon code NB4796 should work on most HP laptops price $1399+.

Of course if gaming is a big deal, you'll want to find one with at least the 8800M . The 8600 isn't 'bad', but the 8800 is much much better gaming performance.

OR go with the HP HDX Pavilion

- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T8100 (2.1 Ghz / 800Mhz bus / 3MB L2 Cache)
- 20.1" Widescreen
- 2GB RAM
- 512MB 8800M GTS
- FREE Upgrade to 320GB HDD
- Integrated HP HDTV Hybrid TV Tuner and 4 Altec Lansing speakers +the HP Triple Bass Reflex subwoofer
- 9 cell battery
- LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
- HP Imprint Finish (Dragon) + Microphone + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam

Sub-total = $1949
- $500 coupon

Total = $1449
