I'd pay that much for that connection as fast as I can get my money out. I'd pay twice that much for that connection, assuming I was able to use all of that bandwidth all the time.

That's not a valid counter argument. The problem is a lack of direct compatition between providers. Majority of Canada's population lives in metropolitan enclaves, even though our density is small i think we have a perfect opportunity for Fios deployment.

We are not like the US where there are many many dispersed population centres.

canada population is more spread out.

and almost all of canada has broadband connection. while you go to the places in the otherside of the world, only the main citys have those speeds while you go out side of that city by like a few KMs and all they have is dial-up.

Ok so their installation and customer service is great when you phone them up with a problems a lot better than Telus. The issue I have with Shaw is they frequently phone me telling me I am over my bandwidth limit and make "suggestions" to cut back my use. The thing is I am well below my limit by about 10 - 20 gigs. I'm one of Shaw's very first clients in Calgary and I've been happy ever since. Shaw has never given me a reason to look elsewhere for my internet connectivity and their service is above and beyond expectation so really I love my ISP.

Now I don't run P2P software and my servers are commercially hosted elsewhere as they should be. My Home Server (cool little system from Microsoft) works great when I'm away from home, my upload/download speeds are good (xtreme is plenty quick, but someday I might try the nitro just for fun) and with the SOHO package I get 5 IP addresses (I use those IPs for testing firewalls etc, I don't use the email addresses or webspace as they are not big enough for what I need) so really I have nothing to complain about with Shaw so its no wonder my TV, phone and internet services are all with Shaw.

Because i wokred thier i can say that Shaw has a lot to work on when it comes to keeping their employees happy and better retention.

but from a none personal point of view everyone complains, but the people that complain too much are the ones that have no clue, think they are the most important people in the world and think they are owed something.
