Regnar : Of course you'd be willing to pay for that connection, but how many people in a certain place would? If 1-3% of my customers needed a connection like that it would be lower on my "to do" list, that being said Bandwidth should be increased as more and more is needed with everything being available online. Does anyone remember the days of 14.4kbps and paying for the time you were actually logged in I think there are allot of spoiled Ineternet users out there and the grass is always greener on the other side. But I have heard some grumblings about docsis 3 being available for people using shaw soon, at that point who's going to compete with them?

The problem is a lack of direct compatition between providers.
chris420 : To be honest I hate shaw.

Ok so their installation and customer service is great when you phone them up with a problems a lot better than Telus. The issue I have with Shaw is they frequently phone me telling me I am over my bandwidth limit and make "suggestions" to cut back my use. The thing is I am well below my limit by about 10 - 20 gigs. They throttle their internet (At peak times I get twice as good speeds with Telus than Shaw), I keep getting reset pages on web pages, and if you look at places in the US you get a lot more bang for your buck in terms of speed.

Link Logger : Generally just people who want to bitch about something post (ie no one ever calls the help desks and says ' wow everything is great'). I'm one of Shaw's very first clients in Calgary and I've been happy ever since. Shaw has never given me a reason to look elsewhere for my internet connectivity and their service is above and beyond expectation so really I love my ISP.

Now I don't run P2P software and my servers are commercially hosted elsewhere as they should be. My Home Server (cool little system from Microsoft) works great when I'm away from home, my upload/download speeds are good (xtreme is plenty quick, but someday I might try the nitro just for fun) and with the SOHO package I get 5 IP addresses (I use those IPs for testing firewalls etc, I don't use the email addresses or webspace as they are not big enough for what I need) so really I have nothing to complain about with Shaw so its no wonder my TV, phone and internet services are all with Shaw.

Blake
--
Vendor: Author of Link Logger which is a traffic analysis and firewall logging tool
