| Re: What other service can I try? Your experience? Any info on financial stability? After the Sunrocket (and other lesser) debacles, it would be nice to know if the provider will be around more than a year.
Of the alternatives mentioned in this thread:
QuantumVoice VoicePulse CallVantage VoipO
at first glance the only one that seems a good bet for actually continuing to exist in some form is CallVantage....
By the way, wouldn't most people approve Packet8 for this short list?

VoipO could be good, but have been in "beta" for a very long time. Also the CTO thread from not too long ago was not too flattering.

| Re: What other service can I try? Your experience? I have had bad experiences with Packet 8. When I canceled CS made sure I would never recommend Packet 8 to anyone. It's a long story.
I've been very happy with Net2Phone, it just works.
I've been having the same types of problems with VT for months that others on this forum have been reporting. I've had zero problems with Net2Phone.
Net2Phone gave me a free year of service after SunRocket closed their doors. The only cost to me has been a monthly tax of $1.06. I use my old SunRocket adapter so there wasn't even a fee to start the service.
My 2 year VT contract with VT will be up in a couple of months. I pre-paid for a third year which I'm having second thoughts about, VT has been having it's share of problems in recent months.

One thing to note about CallVantage is that they give a $5/month discount if you're an AT&T Wireless customer, which brings the price down to $19.99/month. I've also seen people mention that if you don't have AT&T Wireless they'll still give the $5/month discount if you have some other AT&T service such as DSL or U-verse, but I've seen nothing on the CallVantage web site to verify that.

I have ATT (formerly Bellsouth) DSL and they do give the $5 discount if you have DSL with ATT.
