| reply to GeorgeCr said by GeorgeCr :Great, but is the game any good? Third person only? You've seriously not heard anything about Bioshock? It is one of the best games released last year. It is entirely First-person. there are only a few instances (in the ending cinematic scenes) that do not take place in first person. -- TANK BEATS EVERYTHING! |

| said by Reck Havoc :Wow.. finally? The DRM limits on Bioshock were horrific. Maybe if you changed computers about 10 times they were. It was not that limiting. I don't know of anyone who bought the game that had a problem with the limitation of installing it. The couple that did on this forum got a new key to be able to install it by calling support.
You make it sound like the end of the world or something. |

They claim it's been removed, but I wonder how they propose to remove it from games already sold that included SecuROM on the disk. Perhaps they will offer to replace the old disks with new non SecuROM/DRM ones.
edit: After reading a bit on the 2K forums, SecuROM is still there. Guess I'll just have to continue to use my copy as a coaster. -- The pussification of America continues unabated. |

| reply to Reck Havoc said by Reck Havoc :Wow.. finally? The DRM limits on Bioshock were horrific. not as bad as Mass Effect at lest with Bioshock when you uninstalled it you got a install credit back with Mass Effect you get 3 installs thats it and every user on your PC will need an install >.> total BS way to kill such a great game
said by joako :Can someone explain what is wrong with SecuROM? You don't want to have to insert the disc when you play the game? it tends to have a fit with some aps like Alcohol 120% and Process Explorer both are legit aps and on top of that it can just not work for random reasons some time not to even mention that it install software with out asking |

| Used to be Systernal's Process Explorer. Same thing as the Task Manager, but more control and information presented on everything running. I use it as my kill switch for anything running. SecurROM prolly doesn't like it because it can be shut down using proc explorer.
I really want to play both Mass Effect and BioShock cuz I'm FPS all the way... but my rig is to damn weak for it. |

| reply to joako said by joako :Can someone explain what is wrong with SecuROM? You don't want to have to insert the disc when you play the game? Having to insert the CD is a pain in the butt when you end up playing a lot of games. And plus if you're not the most careful with your CD's, if you somehow happen to scratch it (it's happened to me before, leaving it on a desk or something), you're kind of screwed. In the PC world you get used to installing a game on your HD, that's it, not having to leave something in the drive. Also, some protections (I don't know which) tend to check the CD/DVD actively during the game. It's not unheard of that cracked versions run faster, becuase it stops the game from constantly going back to check the drive! I buy my games legit, but I do go right for the "No CD/DVD" patch.
As far as someone who else who stated limited activations isn't a big deal - it's a PITA! I realize in the Windows world, it's a rock solid OS and never crashes requiring reinstall (blatant sarcasm here...) so let's say you crash... reinstall it, that's a 2nd activation, now you upgrade your PC at some point, and want to reactivate... that's a 3rd activation... I mean, the idea of limiting the # of times you install - and not even providing a method of decrementing during an uninstall [assuming you CAN and it's not the first case where your PC went south] - just seems silly. I'd rather have to keep the disc in the drive to play than face this kind of nonsense. |
