| So - what is the opinion of the Broadxent modem? I got this to replace my SpeedStream 5260 modem (a flashed 5660 modem) which has had some recent issues but been good for the 7-8 years I have had it. I notice it is a Creative product which makes me instantly dislike it but... -- Brian

Worked well for me. Had some issues with my line using the Speedstream 5260 SE sent me originally.
Got a Verizon Broadxent from Ebay & things have been fine, margins were a bit better. Of course, YMMV.
Compared to the Telco DSL services, I think it was pretty cool that Speakeasy tech support helped me with setup, after I explained what I was doing. I can only imagine what Verizon tech support would say if said I was trying to set up a DSL modem that I got via Ebay.
Hope it works well for you.

@columbia.edu | Oops, my bad memory!
It't the Westell modem, not Broadxent that I have.
Sorry.

| It's junk! I have an LED out already and the Software is crap. This one is only a few months old. I got it when I upgraded to an ADSL2+ 3.0/768 line. I'm probably going to replace it in a few weeks with a Sangoma card in a Linux router/bridge. | |

@speakeasy.net | Mine was great for the first year or so. Then I got a PS3 and put it on the same network. I have to reset the thing every 2-3 hours.

| My original modem was a Zyxel 645M. Worked fine for some 3 years until after a bad lightning storm I noticed it locked up. Resetting it wouldn't bring it back so I assumed it took a hit through the phone line. Then I switched to a Broadxent.
The one I had lasted about a year and died quietly during the night one night. I ended up reconfiguring an old Westell 6100 series modem that was originally from Bellsouth. That one has worked great since I put it into service about 2 years ago. I haven't had to reset it once.
