[Retouch] Selective hue/saturation

I was wondering how to selectively paint with PS/Lightroom a certain part of the photo to achieve a creative effect.

For example:

Thanks in advance.

Re: [Retouch] Selective hue/saturation

You need to isolate those areas so as to apply changes to them without changing other parts of the photo.

In PS, make a background copy. You can't do this to the locked background.

One way is:
Use the eyedropper tool (I) and select a color (the leaves I assume)

Go to Select|Color Range, leave the "Selection" option checked.

Slide Fuzziness up or down to select more or less of the selected color, the OK.

On the bottom of the layers pallet click on the "Add vector mask", the gray box with the white circle.

Now with the color boxes set to white and black you can add to or subtract from the selection using the Brush tool (B) in the mask layer.
When you're happily with the selection, change only those colors with whatever tool you want. Hue and Saturation, Chanel Mixer, etc, etc,.

Another way:

Use the marque selection to while holding down the shift Key and make several selections on the color you want to alter and then go to Select|Similar

Then the same as above with the Add vector mask" etc. etc.
(Other selection tools may work as well)

I'm sure there are better ways to do this, but they work for me.

Thanks. I'll try that and if I get stuck I'll ask for help.

Regards.
