Odd how this is being sold.... -- ...I don't have a 8mb speedy connection, I fly through the net at low altitudes! |

What do you find odd about how Qwest is selling it? |

orange I love oranges Premium join:2008-04-16 Tucson, AZ | reply to SolarPup Ugh, technically, it *is* fiber optic service. Technically, any service is also fiber optic service, since the backbone is fiber.
But any service (except FTTP services like FiOS) is also a copper/coaxial service. |

| @dynob: Qwest can't offer anything higher than 1Mbps upload due to ADSL2+ limitations, so fiber to the home would be better since you can get much better upload.
@wingman: If the copper is of high quality and if the DSL network is built well enough, then copper can be just as reliable as fiber. I've only had 4 outages since the end of 2005, none lasting more than about 20 minutes. |

My DSL network goes through phone lines it's been a constant battle to have the techs maintain it, I feel that fiber does not have shades of gray |

Up until very recently, a lot of cable providers were only offering around 386k up.
In any case, Qwest isn't going to be deploying FTTH except in limited circumstances (such as housing developers who contract with Qwest to provide it). FTTN ADSL2+ is certainly a step up from ADSL; there are still a lot of people eligible for 5M or 7M that still only opt for 1.5M. |

They are no doubt fighting off the comcast ads bragging about their FO network...

Seen the comcast ads but not similiar qwest ones here.
I assume all the cable qwest is laying around is for this. Saw them stuffing a reel of cable under the main N-S road this weekend. Talk about pulling cable, they pulled under 4 blocks of the main road....i have a hard time with one wall |
