That's the Asian system (Thai anyway).
The bathrooms are fully tiled, with drains in the floors. Some people carry their own paper, because not all bathrooms have paper.

Over the top. The problem with the other way is that the paper is then usually resting so close to the wall that then people are touching the wall to grab the paper.. Then you end up with more then paint on your wall.

Under, makes it easy to tear it off with one hand, if you pull it fast enough. If you try that with it on top, you'd pull unroll about 20 ft. |

I simply do not understand why anyone would want to tear toilet paper off with one hand. You have a pair of hands. Use one hand to hold on to the roll, and use the other hand to tear it off... unless your other hand is busy with other activities.
