| [Serious] Emma Update
Talked to Rosa a bit ago. She was at the hospital. Seems Emma has a heart murmur and a hole in her heart. Not sure if they are related, I am not good with medical stuff. They say she is doing okay and that the hole will most likely heal itself. I have no idea if that is true or not, but we hope for the best. She also has had a lot of breathing episodes. They found a lot of mucus in her lungs and throat and cleared that, so maybe that will help that problem. Mom and Dad are getting to hold her and they keep assuring us that she is doing fine for her age and weight.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

| When they're that little their lungs aren't fully developed so until they mature there can be some problems. The science of taking care of them is amazing. Emma is in good hands I'm sure and she is being watched over by God every moment.
I will continue my prayers for her and for the strength of her family.

PS: My cat had a murmur, with a small hole that healed and the murmur went away.

Sorry I missed this.
The heart murmur and the hole should close on it's own, as my son's did, or if i recall it can be done with medicine. The breathing episodes are normal too for a premie - it's called apnea and she will also have bradicardia episodes.
Still have my special thoughts.

Even though my other half is a pediatrician, when we finally got the twins home and settled, every time either one of them gasped, made funny sounds, or didn't wake up easily he asked me if they were OK.  
As if I knew... I was too dense to know the difference at the time, but most fortunately- like woogs said- little folks are remarkably resilient, and time fixes most of the things that the little ones need to catch up on. Most preemies do resolve the hole left from fetal circulation simply by breathing and growing...
When I commented to my husband that he was used to babies half the size of ours, he looked at me like I had two heads and said, "Other babies are much easier to take care of, you know!".
