DIR-655 v1.11 FW - DHCP issues with Intel 3945abg?

Been using a 655 with a Win XP SP2 Toshiba laptop for months with V1.04 firmware. Always worked well until now.....

Installed V1.11 firmware. Did a hard reset of router and setup again using WPA. Toshiba notebook with Intel 3945abg cannot get an IP from the 655 DHCP server. The notebook searches and searches then times out. IPCONFIG /RENEW doesn't resolve the issue.

I had the V11.5 Intel drivers on my notebook. Saw Intel had a new V11.5.1.2 so I downloaded and upgraded. That didn't work so I deleted connection profile in the notebook and re-create it. Still no joy with DHCP.

Finally, I switched to WEP and everything began working fine.

I've since tried to go back to WPA and it won't get an IP from the 655. Tried every combo of WPA/WPA2, TKIP and AES. Nothing works. Well, except WEP or no security.

No other DHCP servers running on network. Any ideas?

Did you update your Win XP SP2 with the Microsoft WPA2 patch?

Hmmm, good call (I hope). I think I'm going to upgrade this notebook to SP3 since it includes the WPA2 update amongst other things.... I'll let you know.

I still wonder why everything worked fine with FW V1.04 but not with V1.11.

I'm having a similar problem with my laptop. I think it started a while ago when I upgraded it to XP SP3. It's stuck in an endless loop where it tries to obtain an IP address. At first I thought it was my Netgear router, so I replaced that with a DIR-655, then I thought it was the Airlink air card, replaced that with a D-Link N DWA-642 card & I still can't get an IP address from the router. It worked once but I've rebooted since & it no longer seems to obtain an IP address.
Any suggestions?
