| D-link 300G firmware upgrade problem
Hi, I've managed to download the firmware upgrade files for my d-link dsl 300g modem, but I can't access the modem via the web or telnet. I've tried to connect with the 10.1.1.1 address, tried resetting to factory settings, and tried a few other random things that also didn't work. I'm no pro... any help would be greatly appreciated... |

| The DSL-300G is a relatively speaking old modem. D-Link has stopped support of it. The last firmware package is available at: »support.dlink.ca/products/view.a···L%2D300G
To upgrade the modem, I believe the computer must be directly connected to the modem, NOT through a router. The thing may ask you for a login and password to access the hardware (NOT your ISP login/pw). If the modem was obtained through an ISP, they are notorious for plugging in their own login & password, and refuse to give it out to the end user.
To my knowledge, the DSL-300 series modems were bridge only. If you were fortunate to ever get the CD with the modem, you can get line connection stats from it.
For what they're going for now, you might want to consider upgrading to a newer modem. Modems like the ST516V6 come with a CD, and programs like DMT can be downloaded to give you a complete analysis of your connection. They can also be set up in either bridge or route modes. |
