hottboiinnc : Verizon is doing an actual "new" build. They're replacing a system with a new one but only when the customer changes over to the new system. They're not having two differenet set-top boxes as far as programming. Also VZW had to put in a new call center to handle FiOS many cable companies do not want to pay for that extra item right now let alone to rebuild an entire network that they just got done doing maybe 7 years ago. VZ had no option but to upgrade to Fiber since they are still using a system that is from the 80s and before.
