Re: [DIRECTV] Does anyone else really like video on demand?

DirecTV video on demand starts at station 1000, however it isn't populated until a hardwired ethernet connection is detected. Even then it takes about a day, or over night for it to fill in. Once filled in, you can look at your station + 1000 to see what is available for that station via video on demand.

Most of the stuff is free, some of it, like NBC's content is mostly PPV. I prefer to just download stuff which won't cost. NBC has made a distinction however, it charges more for high definition content ($1.99) vs standard definition content ($.99) per program. 30 Rock is an example of this dual pricing. You can buy any of season 1 or 2 for $1.99 high definition or $.99 low definition per episode.

Thanks for posting this and getting my interest up.

I noticed the other day that I have Video on Demand on my billing but don't really know what it's all about, so I'm off to check it out...

I enjoy it. Wish they had HBO/Cinemax and more free HD, though.
Ditto. I enjoy the Olympic preview stuff, adult swim, Colbert / Daily Show highlights and my kids like getting some of the SpongeBob and other Cartoons. I downloaded a neat early Beatles documentary the other night, took forever to download but I was able to watch it during the download so it didn't matter that much. I can't forward fast my own vision quite yet

When I evaluated DirecTV and the HR21 in particular as replacements for my Dish Network DVR 508's, it was mostly a comparison of DVR to DVR features which caused me to decide. However, video on demand has been a surprise asset to my viewing. The recent addition of the learning and concert series has been great. I also like some of the flicks stuff. My only concern is my ISP may not enjoy my enjoyment of video on demand quite as much.

Is anyone else enjoying DirecTV's video on demand much?
Personally, I find the VOD to be useless.
