Just speculating but it seems like all of the carriers except for sprint are going with LTE -- I imagine they will just have one uniform network at that point where others can roam if roaming agreements are in place.

mindfrost82 join:2003-04-19 Cortland, IL	This has been mentioned in all the other LTE vs WiMAX discussions. LTE is going to be used for data-only. While it could lead to a GSM upgrade later on, voice will remain on the respective CDMA and GSM networks and only data will be on LTE.

EPS join:2008-02-13 Hingham, MA	There'd be no reason to convert from CDMA to GSM- it'd be a downgrade in voice quality anyway. LTE is supposed to have voice over VoIP-based systems, which are much cheaper than current cellular voice technologies.
