While it could lead to a GSM upgrade later on, voice will remain on the respective CDMA and GSM networks and only data will be on LTE.

EPS join:2008-02-13 Hingham, MA	Re: Alltel is now VZW? There'd be no reason to convert from CDMA to GSM- it'd be a downgrade in voice quality anyway. LTE is supposed to have voice over VoIP-based systems, which are much cheaper than current cellular voice technologies.

Its not like that LTE is the family of GSM. Called 3gpp. »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3gpp
Plus both cdma and GSM are old school. What has to happen is Alltel moved to a GSM core first then to LTE.
