siberx4 : I have seen a number of users report this - in some cases the 300g does give improved upstream rates on the 2+ ports compared to the thomson speedtouch. It's no guarantee however - just as many ports run full speed upstream with the thomson speedtouch units as not. Mine, for example, is always rock solid 100kB/s up with my speedtouch modem. Haven't had a problem or drop of upstream rates in a long time now.

BUT the actual upload performance of the thomson utterly blows, about 40 to 50KB per second. the 300g however always gets upload speeds of 90 to 100KB per second.

so depending on your lines conditions, an old 300G might help.

This all depends on the condition of your line though.

othei1o : siberx helped me flashed it and I get upload speeds of 840kbps. It seems like its working perfectly but every time I turn on my utorrent, my upload starts going back to 520kbps (capping) even after I shut it off or restart the computer. It only goes back to normal when I do the "set up" all over again on the web admin screen on the speedtouch menu. I don't why it does that. :(

Speedtouch upload cap help

othei1o : Hi there, I have High Speed Xtreme with the Speedtouch ST516 v6 from Telus by swapping the Siemen router which sucks. However, when I test my speed on speedtest.net, my upload starts off good at 800kbps but when the test is at 70%, the upload drops suddenly and caps to 520kbps. How risky is flashing the firmware on this? And do you think Telus would let me swap if this one dies? Let me know how to do this step by step. Thanks in advance.
