ErikVKing : Well if I think of it I'll have to do a speed test at the "LAN center" we have here because even though I can't stay connected in my room, I can stay connected there.

A little laggy, shots register a second or so after I hit the button, text takes a bit to go through, etc. but I can stay on! I like the game right now because it's something new, and learning new aspects of things always keeps me going.

Will have to see how it is when I can learn most of the things and actually get out of the newbie areas. I'm trying to pick up all of the professions I want and figure out what all is involved, so it could be a while, hehe. It's a bit frustrating because it's so complicated, but I remember thinking EQ, then WoW were confusing until i got them down, so I'm sure VG will be no different.
--
"You are not your fucking khakis!"

Dissembled : I quit playing Vanguard to play WoW almost exactly a year ago. That game went down the tubes quickly because of all the bugs, gameplay and stability issues. I have no idea if Sony has fixed them all in the last year, but don't use WoW as a measuring stick on this one.

The game was also an incredible memory hog. Try turning everything down to a minimum.

If the latter then removing old stuff from your hard drive would not have helped anyway. If low in RAM then you need to add RAM memory on your system. I believe that VG requires 2 GB RAM to be happy. I remember back when that it really did not like the minimum 512 MB.

Hope this help.

Vanguard issues

ErikVKing : Okay so...I have been wanting to play VG for a long time now to chum it up with old EQ buddies, and about a month and a half ago I bought the digital download and went to town.

Well, I went to town starting the download anyhow, but my connection here in Kuwait is so spotty that it took about 3 weeks to download. During that time I purchased the retail version from Amazon.com and about 2 weeks into the download I installed the game via the disks.

I thought this would help speed up my download since I'd get all of the major crap done then download patches and the like after ... I was sadly incorrect. The download time never decreased (I'm assuming that maybe the information on the disks must have already downloaded).

So I finally get done with the download, and in eager anticipation I get back to my room from work and log in, create a toon, get all that fun stuff done with the basic creation and log in! YAY!

Then it crashes on me, not so yay! I kept trying and nothing I could do would help me stay in (turning down graphics, etc.). So I did a test with a site someone linked on my guild forums and it said I didn't have enough memory room... While trying to find room one of the things I did was look at large programs and rarely used ones to uninstall - and found that I had TWO VGs installed! So I uninstalled both, thinking that maybe I had a conflict with the two (digital and retail maybe? that's what I was thinking, but still not sure).

Back to the ole "drawing board" I went. I installed the game via the disks, and went through the painstakingly long download. This time it was fairly smooth (the first time, I kept having spikes where I would be at 40 hours and it would spike to 400 or some other crazy number) so I thought I had it in the bag.

Wrong again! Now when I play I time how long before I get booted. Exactly on the money at two minutes from when I click "play" to the time I get disconnected.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?
