Need more info on newserver service.

Hi, I am an upset Verizon customer. Since they removed alt.* hierarchy from their newsservers recently, I am planning the leave them forever. Could you give me more information on your newsserver?

My general questions are,
*Is it limited?
*How many connections is allowed?
*SSL supported?
*Speed?
*How many groups? alt.* hierarchy is available? Any link to list of group?
*Retention?
*Completion ratio?

I am telling you, if you have decent newsserver, you may start getting a lot of new customers.

Thanks.
OZzy.

You get two (2) 384Kbps connections with unlimited downloading; 75+ day retention; SSL is not supported. I believe the majority of the a.b.x hierarchy is available. Couldn't tell what the completion ratio is though.

If you want all those features, get Giganews (or similar).

From my very limited experience, DSLExtreme provides very reasonable nntp service for the price.

Completion appears pretty good. They appear to use Highwinds Tornado software.
