Faxing

Okay,

It seems I am unable to fax. The first time I tried it, the machine did connect and transmit, but I didn't get a confirmation page, as my defaults are set to no confirmations.

But now that I had an important fax to send, it didn't go through. apparently, the voip line doesn't have enough juice to support the fax tones.

Re: TMobile@Home Review

wow sounds like i don't want the new firmware.
but i do want to do I have looked but guess not found. can i set up a dhcp leas rule on the router. i don't fell like setting up static ip's on my 5 systems. i would like them to get the same ip every time they hit the router for dhcp.

I had this working on my netgear router that i replaced this one with.

thanks
That can be done, leave all the machines as DHCP, but on the router you can configure an IP address that is matched to the MAC address of the machine that connects. That's what I've done.

one caveat about the new firmware that I've noticed: don't try to get the DHCP Clients Table, it will lock up the interface and the router will no longer respond to any input without a reboot. I don't know who to inform of this "bug"...
If you do a complete reset of the router it will fix this issue. However, you will lose any settings that you have.

Is there a way to set the number of rings before the voicemail answers? It seems to take 7 to 8 rings before mine kicks in. So for now I'm letting my answering machine pick up after 4 rings. I just found this forum thread and it"s very informative! I've had the @home service for a few days and I'm very satisfied.

Thanks.

I reset the router to factory defaults, then changed the relevant settings for my personal setup and you are correct, the DHCP Client Table no longer locks up the router. It seems to be working fine now, and no loss of voice service yet.

Mine picks up at the 5th ring. I don't see any way to adjust that, perhaps that must be done on T-Mobile's end?

Danl

@rr.com

I'll give TMO a call and see if it can be adjusted.

Thanks

Danl

@rr.com

Yes, TMO can adjust the number of rings before voicemail kicks in. It just took a short phone call to TMO to make the adjustment.

Enabling DMZ in the Linksys WRTU54G-TM router seems to disable the T-Mobile at Home service. I get no blue light, but only with DMZ enabled.

I've been using the T-Mobile@Home router and service since the day it was available in Nashville. I have updated the router to 1.0.09 (or whatever is current on the Linksys site). I use this router, pretty much in default setup, behind my Linksys RV042 router and the T-Mobile@Home service works fine without any special setup in either router.

Problem is this: I would like to use the T-Mobile@Home router (the Linksys WRTU54G-TM) as my first router, so I can use its WiFi for open access, and have the RV042 and the rest of my network behind it. I use a LOT of port forwarding to access items in my home network, and the WRTU54G-TM has very limited port forwards. The obvious answer would be to enable the DMZ in the WRTU54G-TM and place in that the IP address of the WAN port of my RV042. I do that and all forwarding and access works fine - except no blue light on the WRTU54G-TM; no phone service. After extensive and repetitive testing, I've determined that if I enable DMZ on the WRTU54G-TM router, the T-Mobile phone service won't work. This is even with the WRTU54G-TM operating all alone as the only thing on the cable modem connection. DMZ disabled on this router - all works fine. DMZ enabled - no phone - no blue light. Rather makes sense if, indeed, the DMZ function is actually routing ALL incoming traffic to the designated DMZ IP address; ALL including needed handshaking for T-Mobile@Home to work.

Any ideas? I have no MAC address or IP conflicts. Good networking practices. I'm not an idiot.

Thanks,

kharnack

I want to talk about pricing one more time. I would like to know where did you guys go to purchase your gear? First off tmobile corporate does not want to do a 1 year contract I've called into customer service and stopped at a local corporate store. They still want 50 bucks for the router and 35 for activation the funny thing is I can go to a 3rd party tmobile booth in sams club and get the router and activation for free as long as I do the 2 year contract. Also a tmobile rep told me that everyones not paying 10.00 for the service she stated that some are paying 14.00 in some areas basicakky the 2 year contract locks you into 10.00 pricing. Well the more I think about it I will most likely stay with ATTCallvantage voip its been solid for 4 years at 25.00 a month. I'm going to wait about 6 more months because if it goes to 14.00 than add your taxes on top if that it's not worth it to me at that point

Hey guys. I have been using the @Home service for a few months now and it has worked out great for me (except the weird caller ID bug which has been mentioed here already). I made a post on my blog about how I setup the T-Mobile @Home service to put all my phone jacks in my house out the single router. This way it works just like your old land-line did but you can tuck the router away someplace in the house (doesnt have to be near a phone or a base station).

You can read about it here: »ray.jez.net/?p=557

I purchased mine by calling T-Mobile, they shipped the router and SIM Card to me. I paid $50 for the router, they waived the $35.00 activation and offered me a 1 year contract. I went into a T-Mobile Coporate owned store before I called and was told the router was $50, $35 activation and a 2 year contract. I think a lot of it has to do with the rep you get on the phone and how long you have been a T-Mobile customer; it seems to be very arbitrary....

I got my router for free with free shipping, no activation fee and a 1 year contract through T-Mobile corporate program. There are ways to get corporate discounts without having to go through your employer. I was already a T-Mobile customer when I signed up for the Freelancers Union (»www.freelancersunion.org/discoun···dex.html) a couple years ago. A few months ago I found that they offer a T-Mobile discount and called the number on their web site. That's how I got the deal on the router. They also applied a 10% discount to my account (it took a couple months).

There's also another program that offers the same T-Mobile corporate discount called Dell Perks. I got an e-mail about it today. I'm not sure if they limit who signs up, but here's the web site:
