Re: TMobile@Home Tech Dave,
Can you tell us what type assistance you're calling tech support for?
I just received my router kit and setup was rather uneventful. The only feature I really wish it had is voicemail notification to a cell phone (and maybe a voicemail system that doesn't talk so much at the end of the outgoing message). Call quality has been great, caller ID works well.. even outgoing calls immediately showed my name.

 | ebruce,
I was calling @Home Tech Support to ask the questions on this forum which have no answers.. such as Caller ID on a satellite receiver..etc.
Also, since I am having DSL problems, my blue LED is sometimes off. Well, that day I couldn't hear anything on my phone after placing the call. I heard the dial tone, and the number tones when dialing, but nothing after that. The call connects, and the other line doesn't hear anything either. When it's an incoming call, same thing.
I called tech support to see if they knew what was the underling problem. Meanwhile, I power cycled the HiPort and the problem went away. I *Still* haven't gotten my call back. -- ~Dave~ |

 | reply to ebruce I got the call back on Monday, around 3PM, finally. However, I was at work. -- ~Dave~ |

Re: TMobile@Home Review I got the T-Mobile at home service and am having a lot of problems. One problem that is really very strange is callers using Vonage cannot get through. When dialing the T-Mobile at home number they get the message "this number is disconnected or no longer in service" whereas calling from a "regular" land line or mobile phone works. What could possibly be causing this and is it a problem with T-mobile or Vonage? |

 | reply to nmstough It's a Vonage problem. Did you possibly port from Vonage? They have a nasty problem of leaving ported numbers in their local database. Even if you didn't port, there's a 99% chance it's Vonage. |

You also said that you were having "a lot of problems". What are the other problems? |
|
 | reply to prestonlewis This is a DSL forum...so I assume DSL works as well as cable? Still, it seems kind of silly to have the phone on a phone jack, that jack connected to an Ethernet cable via router, then the DSL modem put the call back on a phone cable. Hmm I suppose if it is cheaper? But if the landline and DSL are bundled, they are likely cheaper. So if it works great! |
|
 | Any "broadband" is suitable for VoIP.
What makes it cheaper is that you can call further distances without the "long distance" charges you would normally incur with your bundled local telephone service / Digital Subscriber Line. -- ~Dave~ |

 | So is 256mbit/s fine? Still seems like a weird setup. |

 | reply to prestonlewis I have been trying to find out if anyone has been able to get the dial-out from a Dish network or DirecTV box to work through T-Mobile @Home (for example to order new programming, PPV, etc).
The FAQ at the T-Mobile @Home site makes it sound like it would not work, but I would love to hear first hand experiences from folks. Someone, I don't recall if here or somewhere else mentioned not being able to do it, but it's the only other reference to this I've seen so far.
Thanks in advance! |
|
 | Okay, I have just made some experiments.
I was able to get a successful dial-out from my DirecTV DVR. I was also able to receive Caller ID info on my TV screen as well. -- ~Dave~ |
|
 | Awesome! Thanks for testing, RedMatrix! Now it's on to figuring out how I can put my Verizon DSL late model Westell modem/router on to bridge mode so that the @Home router can take over the routing functions. At least I think that's what I need to do. Fun! |

 | reply to Kruegs Kruegs, read my last post before this one! -- ~Dave~ |

 | Awesome, thanks for checking on that for me... I appreciate it. I still haven't decided to take the VOIP plunge, but this helps me some more with the argument.

1 edit | reply to prestonlewis I have DirectTV and a Security System. I have heard I can plug the router into a wall jack, disconnect from the land line outside and all of the jacks should work, correct? I have seen several say they can dial out, is it a good bet that my DirectTV and Security system still be able to dial out? Or do I just need to try it and see? |

Call T-Mobile Business Direct at 866-464-8662. Push 3.Tell them the promotional code "Windows Mobile." and ask for T-Mobile at home service you can get it for one year and the same offer free router and other thing that come with the plan. Apparently the same deal: 1-yr contract, free activation and router |
|
 | Just did this today 9/10/08, worked like a charm, 1 year, free activation, free router!!! Yahoo! "Windows Mobile"
I am a personal account and they didn't blink! |
|
 | Just curious... anyone who has had the T-Mobile service for more than a month care to comment on reliability? I have read a few reports about the infamous blue light going out and requiring a reboot every week or so to get things going again. Anyone care to comment? |
