Lets say Microsoft buys the .Microsoft TLD.
windows.microsoft.com becomes windows.microsoft
Does Microsoft drop their .com registration? Absolutely not, they will simply forward *.microsoft.com to *.microsoft.

All companies will do the same thing so what's the point besides ICANN making a little more money?
