Imagine 80 km/hr for an hour on a liter of water. A case of water would take you forever (almost ) |

| I don't think perpetual motion is impossible given that magnetic fields emitted from a ferromagnetic device is perpetual. How it can be done... is another story. -- What I used to be I no longer am... God, why can't you freeze time for my sake? |

Patent it or move to the BS pile... with perpetual motion. Yep, I like this quote even better:
"Our technology needs no outside energy to split hydrogen and oxygen from [water]," explained Onishi.
I have news for Onishi, who has perhaps consumed too much of the wrong kind of sushi: unless the laws of the universe have suddenly changed, breaking up water into hydrogen and oxygen requires energy -- which is precisely why hydrogen and oxygen can later combine in an exothermic reaction that releases approximately the same amount of energy, although according to the second law of thermodynamics the amount released must be less:
2H2O + ENERGY1 = 2H2 + O2 2H2 + O2 = 2H2O + ENERGY2
The second law of thermodynamics (the law of entropy) also implies that it will take more energy to electrolyze or otherwise separate water into its elemental components than the energy you get back -- always! -- i.e.- ENERGY2 will always be less than ENERGY1, the difference being irrecoverably lost heat and an increase in universal entropy. This is worse than perpetual motion, which merely violates the second law of thermodynamics -- Mr. Onishi's claim actually reverses this fundamental law of nature!
Incidentally, "membrane electrode assembly" is a legitimate fuel cell technology, but it works in this universe, not Mr. Onishi's backwards bizarro universe, and so it requires hydrogen as input. There are only two possibilities here: Onishi's car either consumes an external source of energy that he forgot to tell us about, or else it's a total fraud. That's the beauty of physics; it can cut through bullshit like a knife.
EDIT: typo, clarity -- "Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace" -- Dr. Albert Schweitzer "A dog is like a child who never grows old ... always there to love and be loved" -- Aaron Katcher

| Yes, in one of their pretty pictures on the site:
»genepax.co.jp/en/mechanism/system.html
You get to see water explode into oxygen and hydrogen - in a cloud of "chemical reaction"... Um... reaction with what exactly? Water doesn't spontaneously react with itself... and generally anything it does react with is also a consumable - if you can find me a catalyst that makes water split into pure hydrogen and oxygen, I will get you whatever your heart desires...
I make that promise because a) you won't find it and b) because if you could, well, think of the biggest pile of money you can imagine... now, multiply it by infinity... squared... I'll only take 1%. -- "Yahoo Doré" is Who-speak for "Where the hell is my stuff?" - Howard Tayler - »www.schlockmercenary.com/ |

If only this could be true. Unfortunatley however, it takes highly expensive and sophisticated equipment to hydrolyze water and store the oxygen/hydrogen to a point where it would be useful, and of course, requires energy to do it.
This reminds me of cold fusion! |
