Westell 6100F with D-Link DGL-4300 Combination Help

I just got Verizon DSL internet service today with my previously year-owned D-Link DGL-4300 router (love it) along with the Westell 6100F modem (F90-610015-06 Rev. D).

My question, How do I get it to work with my router such as I am always connected with the best performance? My dad also has verizon DSL and set PPPoE on his router so that he is always connected (I am assuming his router is in bridged mode). I connected my PC directly to the modem and I had internet access (after going through a long log-in process). I'm guessing that I am the same way...there is a log in process needed to access. Ive been skimming these forums and what would be the best way to obtain this? I am really a n00b when it comes to networking so if someone could also explain Bridged vs PPPoE, that would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That link has details on bridge mode that a user might find useful but it does not have the model specific information that you need for the 6100f
