| Folk singers blast from the past.
Let's see how old everyone is. I came to the San Anselmo/Fairfax area around 1980 or so. I used to live with a guy who owned a unique Laundromat. A real eclectic place, ended up meeting a lot of people.
Now, forward to today, a guy I did not know died, Utah Phillips. But, he was big with the Kate Wolf folk music festival. Kate Wolf, oh yeah, forgot all about her till I read of his passing.
Kate Wolf, Norton Buffalo and others were very ingrained in the Marin county/north bay music scene. What a wonderful soul, a true treasure and a great singer that I had forgotten about. Taken by Leukemia at a young age. Wow, what a flashback from a news article I almost did not read. To me, her picture says gentle, and she truly was. Did anyone else know her and/or ever see her gigs? (no, she was 10 years older than me at the time; I know what you were thinking..... )

It was outrageous that they raised ticket prices to over $6.00!! |

| Oh then you would love 97.7 out of Santa Rosa, Dead at Ten, 10:00 every night for bedtime. No, I'm not real a folksy type, love what they now call 'classic rock', but I'll listen to anything good. Father-in-law was a local French Jazz pianist clubber.
Marin sure was in it's heyday with all the musicians back in the 70/80's. |
