| Decent Low-Speed Canadian ISPs
Does anyone know if any ISP offers a 1.5 - 2 Mbps line for cheap. Around $10-20 range? I'm asking here because you guys should know this easily since this is a tech forum. All I need is a ISP that offers around that speed for that cost since I want a decent speed to go on the internet and use p2p. |

| reply to SpeedZ SofSwitch offers 512k/512k service for $24.95/mth or full blown 5M service for $29.95/mth. You can just go month-month as well.
I don't think anyone is offering the speed/price combo that you are looking for. It's kind of between dialup and highspeed. |

| reply to SpeedZ I just went on the website and under the $18.95 price, it gives me 5 mbit ?
I'm in vancouver. Do they offer this for vancouver. |

Things to keep in mind with Acanac: It's $18.95 per month for the first year, the entire year paid up front ($227.40 plus tax), and the price goes up to ~$33 as of the second year. |

I hope some people know In Taiwan, I am purchasing a 2 mbps line and it's only costing me around $15 in the TaiZhong area so that's why i'm asking. I'm only getting 1.5 mbps down though. 8 Mbps is only $20.
I only know bigger ISPs in Vancouver like Rogers, Bell, Teksavvy and Shaw.
Bell I heard throttles ALL P2P apps so that is a no-no. I use Skype frequently. They also cost $50 for a 2 or 3 mbps line... Rogers is too expensive for what they offer. Teksavvy doesn't offer the speed I need. Shaw is too expensive for what they offer.
Edit. I forgot about Telus. I'm so sad. Their commercials are on TV all the time.
Telus is over budget.
Hopefully I can ask my friend where he got his DSL and for what price. It's decent. |

| reply to SpeedZ You're in Vancouver so the DSL throttling doesn't concern you, Telus is the wholesaler .
Teksavvy out west offers 3Mpbs for $29.95 and 6 Mbps for $35.95, but it seems they don't have a budget speed.
Sorry, I don't live in out west so can't recommend you But check this website »www.canadianisp.com , you might find something of your need. |

| reply to SpeedZ Can you speak Chinese by any chance? TELUS's in-language queue offers $19.95/month no contract for enhanced.
Your other option would be to go to a Chinese dealer (Cell City comes to mind) and they should be able to offer you this pricing.

| @Guspaz - Oh really ? Thanks for clearing it up.
@Quake110 - Thanks for the website. Just wondering, when I search up Teksavvy, they have this promotion but it isn't on their website. Do you know anything about it?
@jyeung - Is the Telus thing only for a limited time. Ie. they only let you purchase it for let's say a year then it goes back to normal price? Same goes for Cell City, is it for a limited time only ?
Does anyone know any good deals on Internet? |
|
jyeung inspiration reality Premium join:2004-03-30 North York, ON | It may be only for 12 months, not sure on that one.
As for Teksavvy, I don't think they run promotions - I've never seen them have one. What you see is what you pay.
