You might try taking him for a walk while the fireworks are going off. That way maybe he can put a light to the sound and realize that it is not that threatening. YOU need to be calm and assertive. He will feed off your energy. If you are relaxed he will realize "Hey, he ain't scared so why should I be". It may take more than 1 try but I think it will work.
