falling_star : There are things (damages) that can occur to cables that will effect the low frequency far more than the higher. typically this will also show up as the lower channels in the downstream being weaker than the mid or high end depending on severity of the problem. since you use boxes you would not see the low video channels looking grainy since the boxes tune to the digital simulcast channels instead of the analog channels.
you mention the tech did not go to the pole, as testing at the tap would separate a network (hard plant) vs drop issue, but he may have determined that a drop replacement was needed via another indication, such as leakage.
Call the call center and ask the agent if any other pending work orders are open on your account to insure that action is being taken. don't worry about the garden and trees, they may have to bore under some, but they will get it done if it need to be replaced.

ARJ : I think my problem is related to this Forum stream. My downstream connection is fine, but upstream is the problem.
Cox-supplied SA modem and my old Linksys modem will work
fine if connected directly to cable feed but not at all thru a splitter. Upstream of 2 Cable tV boxes will not work at all (or I think that is why On Demand cannels 0 and 700 will not work at all). Tech was out yesterday, thinks it is the underground feed, put in a work order. Given our garden and tree situation, a complete new ug feed is difficult/impossible. Tech was not on the pole; could the problem be upstream from the pole and not my ug feed?
Can an UG feed deteriorate to affect upstream but not downstream? Any advice before I get Cox out to the house again?

falling_star : Given the high winds we have had lately any number of things could have loosened, not just squirrel chews, assuming it is on the outside. It could still be a fitting on the inside. Just make sure the tech does a forward ingress test with the DSAM meter. He should disconnect the drop from the tap and connect the drop to his meter. a channel scan is then done. There should be no carrier visible greater than -40dbmv. Many techs think only of ingress as being a reverse or upstream issue, having been taught that as part of the HSI diagnostics.

CoxTOC1 : Video is not really my specialty but I would have to guess ingress/noise. Most likely either a damaged cable or bad fitting. If you have a lot of squirrels my bet is that one has been nibbling on your drop or feeder (They seem to like the taste of coax for some reason).

falling_star : Although a tech might have already been on site and replaced a lot of components, it only takes one to be missed to cause signal loss or shielding flaws which can cause enough ingress to cause the bit errors. NOVA has a lot of over the air carriers compared to most areas, and that requires the shielding to be perfect. You did not list the channels, which would help.
Call in and place another service call request, and ask for contact from a field supervisor.

map : Newbie here, so sorry if this is a basic plea for help. I have Cox and am in Northern Virginia. Many of my channels are pixilated and have audio stutter. The channels that suffer this change from time to time, but are generally in the 70s and 90s. Page 1 of the diagnostic screen shows a signal of 0dB, the page 5 SNR is within range, but the Page 1 error rate is >10,000 for some of these channels. Cox has come and replaced all the splitters and much of the coax in my house and yet I still have this problem.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is this an upstream problem? What should I do?
