Decent video card

Get a video card with some sort of output(Youtube doesn't really require DVI or HDMI) and connect your computer to the TV.
Not only can you watch Youtube, but any thing else found on the intertubes or your HDD.

ever think people's computers are in one room and the TV is in another? Do they make 40 foot s-video cables?

Only $12.60.
How were you expecting to get the Google app to send YT to the PS3 or XBOX then the TV?
I have no issues with a PC, I own laptops!

I don't care about youtube( I'm assuming that's what YT means ) um you can use wi-fi you know to send media from the PC to the XBOX or PS3.

Kind of. 35 feet or 50 feet. Take your pick.

And some of us already have HTPCs, PCs that are HTPC ready, and even portable media centers. Money already spent also.
What's your point?

I have 3(three) Media Center laptops - 2 with Blu-ray and HDMI(and S-Video and every other connector).

WTF is your deal? You are the one suggesting I spend money on a media server device when I can use free services with the equipment I already have. Are you arguing just to argue today? seriously. you're suggesting the solution to my problem of google media server not working with the 360 is spend hundreds on a dedicated media server. Does that make any kind of sense?

Do you even read? seriously. if you ALREADY have one of those why spend the money on the thing he's suggesting? or are you too obtuse to understand that?

let me put to you this way. Say you have a 2 year old car that is in excellent condition. The only problem is only get 25 MPG and I suggest your solution is to by a new hybrid that get 50 MGP. Sure you'll save on gas. The extra money you spend on the car is in FAR excess of the savings on gas though now isn't it. Same type thing.

You are the one that came to my post and started to argue, something about the computer in the other room and 40ft S-Video cables...
I and fireflier showed you that they do exist.

Not everyone here has a XBOX.
Apparently most here do have computers and a video card is WAY cheaper than a XBOX.
I never suggested you spend money on anything.
You are the one that;s being confrontational. I don't care what you have or do.

Let it go dude!

Dude usually you're ok, but today you are either in a mood to aruge or are drunk/high.

of course not everyone doesn't have an XBOX but I was refering to MYSELF and my issues you knew that, but you kept arguing anyways.

I'm done arguing with you. When you sober up or come down off your high or whatever let me know.

I would argue more people have XBoxes and PS3's near a TV than PC's. HTPC's are such a niche product and you're trying to espouse their use over already common household electronics.

Seriously, calm down. Both have their merits. Dedicated media systems like the 360, PS3, Apple TV, high def receiver (many can stream media) are cheap, relatively plug and play, and ubiquitous in homes that would take advantage of this. HTPC's are far more functional but are often either expensive or difficult to get running.

So, an Xbox costs less than a $37.99 video card:
...and a $12.xx cable?
*I* own several computers, a video card(if I needed one) would be more cost effective.
I do not own a XBOX or PS3.
Last time I checked, a console cost $300+.

Wow! You're not a happy person, are you?
Not very dollar wise either.

Dadkins is right.

Near a TV, yes!
Overall, no.
More people already have a computer capable of feeding video feeds to a TV.
Many of those computers are already capable of connecting to a TV.

Must be nice to have a console. Most people do not have one!

ROFL! Don't drink.
Don't do drugs.
Your original reply to me was argumentative and uninformed. We pointed you to monoprice.
I showed you what a HTPC was - never suggested you buy one. Just showing that they do exist.
Tried to show that one doesn't need a console to watch some crappy Youtube video on the TV.

You are the one that wishes to continue arguing. I think it's funny myself.

So do whatever it is that you wish to do.
Enjoy your XBOX!

So more people would be willing to run a cable, scratch that, cables (audio and video) across their home than just connect a console to a wifi connection? Gotcha.
