At time of development the only way to connect the XBox 360 to a UPnP server, was to have a service that is only found on Microsoft services (used for registering for DRM content) and for the server itself to be claimed to be made by microsoft. Legal would not allow us to pretend to be microsoft (although there are other servers out there that do).
-Media Server Team » groups.google.com/group/media-se···c33e293c Yep that's where i got my info. I tried the hack but it still didn't work. it did get the 360 to see the media server though. kind of useles if you can't access the actual media.
I use WMP 11 anyways, but I did want to compare to 2. |

From the article: All you need is a PC running Google Desktop and a UPnP-enabled device Now the google media server can SEE the xbox 360 the 360 canot see the google media server. I read on some other board that the only way to get the 360 to recognize the google media server is to trick it into thinking it was made by microsoft and the guy from google said the legal dept advised against doing that.
I also read where if you edit the .xml you can get it to work but when I did it I could at least get the 360 to see the media server but I couldn't get it to do anything else. maybe I didn't do it right. |
