| Updated Rack
A friend of mine was over tonight and helped me take these pictures of my updated rack:
From top to bottom: 2 4U blank panels DLI Ethernet Power Switch Cisco 2924XL Switch Cobalt RAQ4 Server - CentOS - SNPP Paging Server 4U Server - WinXP pro - webcam to Weather Underground 1U Server - CentOS - Web/Mail/Proxy/Database Server 1U Server - CentOS - PBX In A Flash - Asterisk Server 1U Server - WinXP pro - weather radio to Weather Underground APC UPS - Powering all 3 1U servers (EPC Bus A) Sola UPS - Powering EPC Bus B and WXCAM server
The modem for the paging server and the receiver for the weather radio server are both inside the rack, behind the blank panels sitting on top of the EPC.
All servers (except the cobalt raq) have multiple hard drives and share storage with the rest of the LAN.
All 5 machines also run Folding@Home.
Oh, Aaron reminds me - Never mind the labels, they are for my sighted friends who help me work on this stuff, not for me. I know what machine is what, but if I tell a friend "turn off wxcam", they wouldn't know which one it was without the labels, so Aaron made them with his label maker.
BTW: The "Ubiquiti" label on EPC switch 7 is for my wireless bridge, which has been known (with the older firmware, anyway) to lock up and need to be remotely reset. -- Ham radio for the disabled: »www.handiham.org --- View my gallery: »/pics/dimaging/582493 --- Read about my photos here: »Blind Photography

| reply to alphapointe I love it... Great job.
This is something I've always wanted to do at my home is to build a rack. Currently I don't have ethernet ports in each room and when I moved in, I didn't have any phone jacks either. I didn't have the time or money to build a rack so I just throw in some cheap phone jacks/wire to get me by. I really need to take the time and do an overhaul. |

| reply to alphapointe I have moved the WXCAM server to the ethernet power controller (#6) instead of directly connecting it to the Sola UPS.
Here is a snapshot of the web interface for the EPC (I hope it comes out OK.)

| said by kash :what kinda case is that asterisk box? It's a Cisco 1U server. I think it used to be a file server. I bought it from a user here on BBR. |

| ahh...my bad...
that was actually a box that was the precursor to WAAS (wide area application service). its a software that caches and compresses applications/data to be used across a wide area link. the compression algorithms are pretty cool and speed up a link quite a bit. sorry, work with a storage ccie and a lot of datacenter guys.
still a good buy though. prolly listed for three or four thousand back in the day. easy.

| reply to alphapointe I have a new cabinet, with plenty of room for me to experiment with some of my managed switches and other gear without having stuff piled on top of my desk. |
