Firefox 3 & 'fsync' issue

For those concerned about the Firefox 3 & ext3 fsync problem take a look at 'Bookmark Backup'.

Disabling Fx fsync could possibly result in sqlite db corruption without backup.

'Bookmark Backup' automatically maintains current backups of Fx profile data, including sqlite dbs. This permits the user to safely disable Fx fsync while minimizing potential sqlite db corruption issues.

Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location [user selectable]. If Firefox's bookmarks become corrupted or lost, find the most recent uncorrupted backup and copy it into your profile folder.

It functioned perfectly with Fx2, and now with Fx3.

My friend,

Can you please let me know how can I disable fsync on Linux?
I've searched on google but not found any solution.

Thank you.

The name is hilarious, by the way.

You may also want to take a look at the bug report

In Firefox about:config set toolkit.storage.synchronous to integer value 0. Add this if it is not already there.

In your profile user.js you can also add (with all punctuation):
user_pref("toolkit.storage.synchronous", 0);

After making changes, restart Firefox.

Value '0' means fsync is "off", you will then be running Firefox without fsync.
