 | reply to Dogfather It's the Nextel side losing customers, not the CDMA side, which is growing, just not at the rate of the others.
Even if Sprint lost all their Nextel customers, they'd still be a F200 company. They're not going to die, they may just be a smaller company.
I don't have problems with Sprint service, just the customer support. |

EPS join:2008-02-13 Hingham, MA | I don't understand this argument- the Nextel side is a very important part of Sprint Nextel Corp.'s business.
The big question around Sprint is the iPhone. If the 3G iPhone is a huge hit, as all media sources are assuming (the "conspiracy" the VZ CEO was talking about), then all the non-at&t wireless carriers are going to be under some big pressure. Even though Sprint PCS isn't suffering the same way as Nextel is, they're lagging behind the rest of the "big boys", and so have the most to lose.
Sprint won't disappear overnight, though, that's for sure. At this point though one wonders if they're going to become an easy target for some overseas carrier (while the US market is slowing, it's still a growth market compared to Europe or Japan, for example)... but if that was going to happen, why hasn't it already? My guess is CDMA- if Sprint was a GSM carrier they'd likely be long gone. |

en102Canadian, eh? join:2001-01-26 Valencia, CA | reply to xenophon I've had issues with my Blackberry 7100i during the past week, where Sprint's iDEN (read Nextel) network 'dropped' the data connection on my phone. It went from 'NXTL' to 'NXTl', and no messages would come through. Since this is technically used as a glorified pager, I didn't get pages for quite some time and once noticed, I had to go and reset the radio. -- Canada = Hollywood North |
