I was wondering if anybody has heard of a status update on the deployment of uverse in Chicago. I have seen just about every suburb out there in where it's available to them. I live in the city and was just wondering if anybody has heard anything...

lol. I was just kidding, but it seems like that. I live 1/2 block from a CO in a very high concentration area (wrigleyville) and you'd think they would have started implementing it here. No sign of VRADs or work towards getting it in...I think every suburb in the metro area will get it before Chicago.

I don't know about "every suburb out there in where it's available to them". A lot of them are getting the equipment installed but it could be months or even years before they go live.
They installed on 3 houses down from me and from my investigation (with Dennis 's help). It's supposed to go live in September. I'll believe it when I see it though. | |

| Re: AT&T U-Verse in City of Chicago I live in the Midway area, and for the past 3 weeks or so, i have seen crews of AT&T Technicians working away on 4 big boxes sitting on concrete slabs in the public way in my neighborhood. I was hesitant to ask them what they were doing but finally i did. The technician said they were installing the U-Verse equipment and the service should be up and running within the end of the month. I will update within a couple of weeks and see if he was right, i sure hope so! | |

| Re: AT&T U-Verse in City of Chicago I'm guessing it has to do mostly with Midway Airport because AT&T has only rolled out U-Verse in the outskirts of Chicago and surrounding suburbs. On my behalf, I'm not too far from Lincolnwood/Skokie on the N. Side and been reading reports in the neighborhood newspaper about how "ugly" they look. "Eyesore" I'm hoping my immediate area will be included to give a kick in the butt to Comcast. | |

Two of these setups within 3 blocks on the same street. The fact that i wouldn't be able to see my parked car because of the equipment would irritate me. | |

| I was driving home the other day and saw a VRAD out of the corner of my eye in Mt. Greenwood. I'm pretty sure it was a vrad, but I just saw it for a sec.
It was around 107th in Central Park Ave. It will be interesting to see where they will place these around here since there is not much land.
I shall keep my eyes open for more that might be popping up! | |

| Well, it does look like U-Verse is FINALLY coming to chicago. On the dog walk tonight, I noticed that on 107th in Trumbull, there is some major construction going on. It looks like they are trenching fiber all the way down 107th street and installing the VRAD's off there.
BTW, the cement block for the VRAD is on 107th in Trumbull. As I am excited to get U-Verse, I am somewhat surprised that they stuck the VRAD right there. I would have thought they would try to put it in the alley or on the telephone pole, and not right on the side of somebody's house. | |

Harwood Heights and Norridge to the west and Niles, Skokie, and Lincolnwood to the North. I haven't heard anything about Evanston which is closer to the Lake.
