unable to turn 3416 off during recording/hdcp/ green screen

mahlon : Hi All,

I know the comcast box/hdmi/hdcp/green screen problem has been widely discussed here, and I apologize for raising the issue again but I've never been able to find a solution to my specific problem.

Here's my situation:

I have a Motorola DCT 3416 box hooked to a samsung 23 " hdtv. If I have my tv off and the box starts recording something, and I attempt to turn my TV on during that recording I get a green screen, normally I'd just turn the box off and on again and this would fix the problem, but obviously I'm unable to do this while recording because there doesn't appear to be a way to turn a 3416 off while it's recording, so I'm often stuck entire evenings with a green screen. I know that the normal solution would be to unplug/replug the box but I use an electric wheelchair and don't always have someone around to help me. My current solution is to leave my TV on all day just so I won't get caught by a scheduled recording that I've forgotten about, but I figure there must be an easier way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mahlon Christensen
Monterey, CA.
mahlon22 at gmail . com
