new throttle work around!

HiroDeckard writes "Multiple sites reported a while ago that Comcast was using Sandvine to do tcp packet resets to throttle BitTorrent connections of their users. This practice may be a thing of the past as it's been found a simple rule in the Linux firewall, iptables, can simply just block their reset packets, returning your BitTorrent back to normal speeds and allowing you to once again connect to all your seeds and peer. If blocking the tcp packet resets becomes a common practice, on and off of Linux, it'll be interesting to see the next move in the cat-and-mouse game between customers and service providers, and who controls that bandwidth."

From wikipedia:
Sandvine is reportedly being used by Comcast in the United States and by Bell Sympatico[citation needed] and Rogers Cable[citation needed] in Canada to slow down Internet traffic. Notably a lawsuit [1] was filed against Comcast [2] in November 2007, alleging that Comcast was blocking legal Internet use.

Completely useless, and we've been over this before.

1) Bell uses Ellacoya equipment, not Sandvine. This is because Bell is a partial owner of Ellacoya.

2) Bell's throttling practices don't involve RST packets in any way.

Guspaz is correct ... Bell, as far as I can determine, is using Ellacoya, not Sandvine, and therefore is not using the mechanism of fake RST packets.

you can affect x packet many different ways... doesn't mean bc it's slow its done the same...

hope that helps
