Oh so close to my heart!

I do fraud control at i2telecom (voicestick.com and myglobaltalk.com). I also owned large computer surplus firms on the net for close to a decade.

Most charge backs are going to be NOT in your favor, as most often they are fraud, and this is a total no win no matter how hard your fight it.

I give lectures on this. The NUMBER 1 wrong idea merchants online have is that if the bank approved it, then the money is 100% secure. THIS IS NOT THE CASE!

The only time the money is guaranteed is when you SWIPE the card, AND you have looked at the customers PHOTO ID.

Anything less then that and you are at risk.

Further, even IF you win one your still pay the charge back bank fee (funny how that works) and it counts against your merchant score. If you have too many charge backs you WILL be attacked by the bank. They may do a 30 day reserve (hold the last 30 days of money which would kill most vendors) or they flat drop you and you will then have GIANT problems to get a new provider.

NOW if you do have a case that you know is not fraud, provided EVERY copy of EVERYTHING to the bank the FIRST TIME.

If the purchase was for goods include the copy of the web or phone order, the tracking from the shipper, and signature of delivery if you paid for such.

Things like a Fedex del. that states 'left next door' or 'left on side of house' are going to cause you to eat the charge back. You then need to go after the shipper.

IM me if you need further help, or need info on how to stop fraud.
