| hiding my boxes?
I am trying to mount a flatscreen TV on the wall while hiding the box. The box will be in my basement, about 6 to 8 feet from the TV itself. All cables will be dropped down through the wall into the basement, where the boxes will sit on a shelf hanging from the ceiling. I have two rooms that need this setup, and they are back to back. Both TVs will share the same wall, both boxes will share the same shelf. The boxes are HD DVR's. I am asking how to get the remotes to work. I am guessing some sort of IR booster, but the ones I have seen are about $250-$300. Isn't there some sort of IR Booster that costs about $15? Any ideas? Thanks for reading. |

| I have been using this product with a 25 ft cat5 cable as an extender. Hot Link XL It works great.
It is $129.95 and works with up to 6 pcs of equipment.
I just ordered x-10 Powermid for $43.95 plus shipping for use with a cable box.
Good luck. |

| IR port on the DVR does not work. I looked into it. He needs to spend some real money if he wants it to work every time you push a button on the remote. I gave him the two products that I use. There aren't any $15 solutions. XL works very well and the x-10 will arrive this week and I let you know how good it is. The reviews were very good that's why I'm trying it of one box. I'm using the XL for the stereo, HD-DVR, DVD, and a sony camera. It works every time. |

| reply to way2evil xantech is another viable solution also let it be known that plasma and lcd tv's emit a rf signal or something when they are first powered up and if the reciever device is to close to the set the emitters will be lit as if recieveing a signal from the remote and won't respond to commands until the rf from the tv disapates. So if you have a remoter ie harmony and you have macros set set the tv up to power on last that will prevent the other equipment from missing the signal. |

I have several IR repeaters, an LCD and a Plasma, and have never experienced this. I use remotes that have macros in them to power on and control multiple devices, including the TVs, and they work just fine. I'm confused how an RF signal would impact an IR signal -- way different frequency bands. I guess I missed that class when I got my degree in Physics. |

| I may have misspoken as far as the actual rf ir frequency sorry but the problem does exist on my system and others that I have worked on my situation is like this my Sony xbr 40 inch hung on the wall center channel under the tv three or 4 inches from the screen the ir device on top of the speaker, now when I turn on the tv even without the remote the ir light that is on the unit illuminates and flashes and if you look at the emitters on the equipment they are also constantly lit. Now I can turn off the tv and they all go out I can also cover the box with my hand and the light will go out. So some kind of interference is being emitted from the tv. I contacted Xantech the company which I purchased the device from and there tech support confirmed that the plasma and lcd tv's emit some type of interference on occasion so they have another unit that they shipped me with a pot on the back that can be adjusted to compensate for the interference. It works a lot better but is still not fool proof and sometimes I have to wait in order to change the channel on my direct tv receiver with the remote usually only a min or so. Now I am not disputing what you say just given my experience with the units that I have and if the person was to purchase one from the company that I deal with may need to order this one from the start and or not put it so near to the tv as I have mine. Oh yeah don't flame me cause I have direct tv fios is not available to me yet hopefully in a few months as we are on the tail end of my co that is currently working |

Also, I have read good reviews of »www.amazon.com/Next-Generation-R···9&sr=8-2 as posted earlier. |
