[Help Me] Help to set up Dsl 2542b with DIR 655

Ive just bought at DSL 2542B modem router...I also bought a DIR 655.

I want to set these two items up together so that the DSL 2542B only works as a modem....and let the DIR 655 do the routing....

As I try to install the DIR 655 it at the end wants to verify the dsl connection and comes up with nothing so I cannot finish the instalation and the two do not work together....

If anyone can tell me what to do I will apriciate it very much.

OK let me try to rephrase this...

The DSL 2542B is a non wireless router with built in modem.
The DIR 655 is a wireless router without built in modem.

I want the Dsl 2542B to work as modem only and the DIR 655 to be the main router.....

There must be a logic way to connect the two.

I have contacted D-Link in UK but they don't want to help me as I live in France. Only problem I do not speak french very well so I cannot contact D-Link France....

Put the DSL-2542B in Bridge mode, and let the DIR-655 handle the PPPoE/PPPoA authentication to your ISP. You will need to know your ISP's VPI/VCI settings, and select the specific Connection Type from the drop-down menu. The available connection and encapsulation types are 1483 Bridged IP LLC,or 1483 Bridged IP VC-Mux.

Thank you very much for your answer but it did not work.

It comes up and tells me about some error and that I have to contact my ISP....

I first make the modem/router work normal and after that I put it into bridge mode.......

I connect the modem to the adsl line...the DIR-655 to the modem and with a lan connection to the computer...
