| Renewal Pricing
My 1 year FIOS anniversary will soon be here. I just got a letter from them saying my discount will be reduced by $15 per month (guess they think that sounds better then my price is going up $15). Is it worth my while to call them and complain about this? Has anyone called them and got them to reduce their price? I live in NJ if that matters.
Thanks |

| Several months ago they were going to raise my price for internet when my contract expired. To make a long story short I am now paying about 15/mo less on my triple play including twice the internet speed. The letter I received encouraged me to call for special promotions.
I called cs recently to discuss another matter and was told I am not presently under a contract as I thought I was. I'm waiting to find out that some internal audit will catch their mistake. |

Yeah, I've been told that they operate the same way the do with their cellular service, and that is to offer you the existing promotion (new triple play, I would assume) if you threaten to drop all services. I would add that it doesn't matter if you live in a Cablevision area....just tell them you got a better offer (the one they mailed you) from your local cable company or one of the satellite services. You can push to see if they can do better than their initial offer and tell them you will look over the other offer and think about it...if they tell you the offer is good for as long as you are talking to that CS agent, don't worry about it. I work in automotive sales, so I'm well-versed in this stuff. |

| reply to briansok My contract ended last May and I called to renew my contract, the CSR convinced me to take the triple play assuring me that I will ended up paying a total of 15.00 less of what I was paying (TV + Internet only)... well, I just got my first bill and guess what.... my bill went up 20.00 more... so I am in the process to calling them back and try to disassemble the triple play crap, it would be cheaper if I go back to 2 items only.. I think they lie to make you sign for a triple play... I should be able to make changes since I was not the one who bridged the contract, they did by lying...
They are very deceitful when comes to make you sign... |

| reply to briansok I would highly recommend calling them up.
I just did the other day to get a free digital adapter and next thing you know I get over $20 in savings off my current bill(by committing to 2 years) and my cheap local phone ($10 message rate plan) got free long distance, voice mail and other things that were just nice of them to do. |

| reply to briansok Hey I have an even better story. I was given a $10 per month discount on my triple play service the first 6 months because they screwed up my installation date and I had to reschedule. After the 6 months were up I called customer service and asked if there were any other programs they could offer me as my bill had suddenly gone up $10. The CSR was really nice and she found a one year discount in her system that reduced they bill $17 per month. In reviewing my bill it looks like $7 comes off the phone and $10 is more of a general plan discount. Anyway just by calling and asking I got $17 per month discount for a full year. My suggestion is to call customer service and if the CSR is not helpful keep trying until you get a nice one who is helpful. I would also suggest you kill them with kindness, the CSR's are mostly women, at least the ones I usually get, and seem to respond to a kink voice. Probably because they are spend most of the day taking calls from angry customers. |

| reply to briansok My renewal story.... My 1 year anniversary is at the end of the month. I just mentioned to the CSR that I got the $15 increase letter and if that was the case, I would be done with FIOS. Before I finished the sentence, I was told, that it is a standard form letter and you can always go with the most up to date promotion which is 94.95 for 1 year, 99.95 for two years. I took the one year because, the competition here is crazy (CV and FIOS) and there is no way for the longest time that they are going to be able to raise it that much more than those amounts. The one thing I didnt know was that everything else would remain at the same price including equipment and extras. That was a pleasant surpise. Also, I got two remotes, to replace the old ones, no questions asked. I was very impressed with their Customer Service. Overall, they really do a great job. Despite the lack of MSNBC, NBA TV, NHL Network, I am a satisfied customer... |

I have never had any issues and if I did they were corrected immediately BTW, I got the remotes yesterday...(took one day) And even when I did have issues and they did screw up, like when they missed my first install appointment they gave me a month credit... |
